ChatGPT Gets Search Capabilities

Big news! GPT can now Search! This is going to change the relevancy and quality of the search results more than any other change in AI. Yes, it’s better than GPT5.

The trouble with AI was that it was smart but it had an older knowledge base. Most AIs are trained on datasets that are a couple of years old and due to that they weren’t just aware of the latest developments in the world.

You could connect AIs to databases and documents but it’s not a replacement for a single Google Search.

I’ve been irritated so many times in the past when I asked GPT a question and got a very irrelevant response. You couldn’t ask AI about the latest movies for example.

But that has changed. GPT can now search when you ask a query that deserves a search. It can look up the latest information, update its content based on what it has found, and then give you a very qualified answer.

That means you can ask about the latest events, you can ask about movies, or anything in the world that’s recent.

This makes AIs much more useful but also brings search back into the picture.

Now that AIs can search, and in real-time, there’s no doubt that search companies are going to demand attribution and they will get it.

You will see search engine results in GPTs with information about the query and a clickthrough link.

It makes the search a bit more relevant.

Since you don’t have to do the search yourself, you can ask the AI and it’ll make the search and give you the best responses.

This has been implemented already in Google Generative Search and in Bing AI search.

With its inclusion in ChatGPT, you’re getting the reverse integration. It’s not AI-driven search, it’s search-driven AI and this is an infinitely better integration.

You don’t have to care about where the information comes from… All you need to do is ask a question.
