Don’t sacrifice immediate gains for long-term benefits
Do you want immediate results or are you ready to wait and reap the rewards?
If you answered either, it is not the optimum strategy. Whatever you choose, you will lose in the bigger picture.
Businesses need to grow in the long-term, but they need cash today. The rewards may be delayed but the bills are immediate.
Conversely, if the focus is only on what is immediate, you can’t grow. Opportunities change and you will need to change constantly to stay afloat. Without a long-term strategy in place, it’ll be just one firefight after another.
In the past, I’ve always combined the two in some way and I learned that by talking to many smart marketers who do the same.
So while I ran ads on YouTube, I also built a YouTube channel. I invested in affiliate marketing and also built my list.
Your immediate marketing actions will pay the bills and your long-term actions will give you growth. It has to be a combination.
That brings me to another question that I got from someone today –
Should I do PPC or SEO? Which should it be?
If you can choose only one then if you have a product and a compelling story, then run ads. If you don’t, then go for the slower, more defensible, but long-term strategy of SEO.
But ideally, do both.
Investing in SEO does not take a lot of money and it’s totally worth it when results start to compound. What you build today will come to help you tomorrow.
Here’s a little SEO workflow that I use
1. Write on topics that are recent, trending and relevant.
2. Distribute the article on my social media aggressively.
3. Submit the article to Google Search Console for indexing ← this is important.
Step #3 is simple, but it gets your article indexed fast!
Yes, Google is a beast but it has to index billions of URLs every day. It will take its time coming to you if left to itself. Tell Google about your new content.
