Here’s an idea that will make you more sales
I make it a point to meet new marketers and entrepreneurs as often as I can. Everyone has a story, but everyone also has an idea, and ideas are the currency of an entrepreneur.
Solid, actionable ideas that yield results. You should have as many of them as you can.
But, no matter who you are, you can’t have all of them. Fresh ideas come when you subject yourself to fresh inputs. The trouble is there’s a selection bias.
We are all products of decades of training (to borrow an AI pun) and we gravitate towards certain things. I like a certain type of movie, a particular breed of books, and a certain style of clothing.
That’s my pattern and if I have only myself to bank upon I will keep reinforcing it over and over.
It applies to business and strategies too. There are things we never believe could work until someone compels us to see that they do.
Sometimes someone will come in and show us a 180-degree perspective of how we view the world and let us see how valid and how workable that is too.
That’s the breakthrough that could set you up for the next cycle of growth.
I often need someone else to come in and show me that a certain system works because it works for them.
When that happens I will reorient my belief system and start a new journey of discovery. More than a couple of times it has led to new products and even entire new businesses.
I am sure you have experienced this too, if not in business then in your personal life.
That’s why we need to keep the door slightly open. If you don’t like what you hear, shut it back by all means, but be open to fresh voices or you will never be able to grow; in business or in life.
