I am sick of AI and this is why
Gosh! I have talked 3 times about AI in the last week and I really wish I didn’t have to anymore. I am having AI fatigue. Tired of how fast it’s progressing and how far we seem to lag behind each day.
Do you feel the same?
Do you think I should stop talking about AI even if big and eventful things continue to happen? Or should I continue bringing you the latest developments and my assessment of them? Do let me know.
So yes, I am going to talk about it again today because something radical happened. Google measured up!
You know that ChatGPT stole the show a couple of months ago and then Bing was the first to come up with a publicly available AI chat linked to search. Google even made a fool of themselves when their AI agent BARD got a simple question wrong.
What good is a search engine AI that can’t tell you which telescope took the picture of a planet outside our solar system? (That’s what Bard got wrong).
So Bard was written off, but yesterday Google came up with something that is putting it back in the game again.
It’s an all-new model that they’ve trained (And are continuing to train) called PaLM2. This model is assessed to be way ahead of GPT-4 or any similar model outside in accuracy and speed.
They are talking 100x the speed, that is indeed a breakthrough!
ChatGPT does a fairly decent job, but the biggest complaint is that it’s too slow. You give it a question and it takes too long to answer.
It seems that Google solved this puzzle, and if what they claim is true they will certainly cause a shake-up when they put this new model to work.
I am using BingChat’s AI daily and though it’s dumber than GPT4 it gives some answers better than GPT4 because it is connected with search.
I started using Bard a couple of days ago and I can’t say it’s smarter than BingChat. It actually seems a bit more tired or repetitive than Bard.
Tell me, are you using these AI tools every day? Are you using them more than search? I am.
I am taking a lot of help to find content ideas and topics from the AI tools, and I am using them a lot as a programming assistant. It’s easier than searching for references and manuals.
