If the customers are not coming in, go outbound
If the customers are not coming in, go outbound
I know a lot of my readers are solopreneurs. Building their business all by themselves bit by bit. It’s as hard as it sounds, and I can relate to the struggle because I’ve been there.
I get asked a lot how I would do it if I had to do it all over again. Well, pretty much like the first time.
Using Outbound

Inbound is great for scaling, but outbound is what you need to do when you start out.
No magic ‘click to success’ software or app. It takes a hard incessant grind to land your first few clients and make your business viable.
The first bit of the puzzle is the product itself. Do you actually have a product?
It has to be viable. It has to be competitive. It has to be useful and best of all, if you can make it so; it has to be innovative.
My first step to building this million dollar business was to create a high-value, innovative product, and I spent nearly 8 months doing it all by myself. I worked hard, I worked every day. I drained my savings.
Then I went outbound hard, looking for partners who could help me promote the product.
I reached out to about a 150 before finding the right person.
The thing is, I had a valuable product. A product they could see clear value in.
When you go outbound with a product or solution like that, you will be welcomed. Nobody will call you a spammer if you come to them with something they really need.
Here are the prime outbound methods
>Cold calls
>Cold emails
>Online outreach (messaging on social platforms)
And I’d like to add a fourth system to it, which is not exactly outbound but really close.
> Messaging in special interest forums or communities, i.e. Reddit or Facebook group.
Outbound doesn’t scale well because your results are directly proportional to the people you can effectively reach working manually.
It’s hard, long labor but affordable when you have all the time in the world and very little money.
I used it effectively to make my first product profitable and then use that money to set up inbound channels that helped me fuel the growth.
So if you are just starting out then the first thing you should do is Outbound marketing, before you do PPC, SEO, SMM or anything like that.
- Make a valuable product
-Find the right prospects
-Reach out
This is the exact plan I used to spark off my business.
