Q. How do you stop an unstoppable force?
A. You don’t.
Inventions have changed the world many times in the past. Railroads, medicine, electricity, satellites - every technology that has ever been invented has improved lives but also taken away jobs from the older establishment.
The only difference was, it happened bit by bit and didn’t affect all of the jobs at the same time. What’s happening now is all at once and it’s changing every single job in existence. Some in totally unpredictable ways.
The more I look at the advancement in AI, the more I believe that the jobs in existence, professions, and businesses in existence today will not exist in this form in the future.
New roles emerge but many extinct
I told you about SORA yesterday, it’s a better way to create videos and very nearly within reach of the technological capability when people can produce movies by feeding in a script to AI.
Today I want to tell you about another tech, a tech that helps AI create a better, more predictive model of the world. It’s called V-JEPA and it’s from Meta.
What this tech does is let AI learn from actions, events, and consequences and then predict what will happen to unrelated objects when similar events happen.
For example, our brains learn pretty easily that when you drop a glass, it falls. AI has to be taught as a principal. The world has to be pre-taught to AI.
V-JEPA builds that knowledge in the same way that a human being does, by monitoring consequences.
It’s not something flashy like amazing HD-quality videos that are generated by a prompt, but it’s got better applicability in the real world. Using this technology, more intelligent and better robots can be constructed.
Machines that go beyond the exact workflows that they are trained for.
So SORA is breakthrough tech, but so is this, and so are all the other different technologies that are being created and merged.
So first, it was only the writers, then the graphics designers, soon the video producers, but ultimately it can be pretty much everyone.
It doesn’t really matter whether you work with your hands or your brain, AI can eventually replace what you do.
Eventually, this will change the fundamental structures of the world. Change enterprise, maybe even change governance, but in the meanwhile, you can survive this change by being a part of it.
It’s clear that AI is a technology revolution that cannot be rolled back, so if you are already here, you might as well benefit from it.
Make AI a part of your business process, your daily work. Try to use it as much as you can, and learn as much as you can about it.
I think being able to make effective use of AI is one of the best work skills to have whether you are a solo entrepreneur or or a business owner.
