Musk’s Suing Google & Non-Advertisers
Elon Musk dropped a bombshell today on X. He said he’s teaming up with the people at Rumble to sue Google. They allege that Google is favoring their own platforms and not making the Internet a fair place.
Okay, this is interesting. It could lead to some really crazy third-order effects if Elon & Rumble get a favorable outcome.
Here’s why…
Right now, there are millions of small businesses online who can’t be found on Google and they can’t do anything about it. Google’s algorithm is opaque and on top of that, they routinely penalize sites and derank them without telling anyone why.
For the first time, someone at the very top of the corporate world has challenged this.
Elon Musk is the richest person in the world and he definitely has good lawyers. I am sure he’ll cause Google to quake a little.
But if he succeeds at this, it could open up a floodgate of opportunity to smaller businesses who feel victimized. They will have a ruling to stand upon and challenge Google.
Oh, that’d be fun to watch!
