I was reading some days ago about a very intriguing concept from the philosophy of Capitalism - “Perfect Competition”.
This is the state when a product or niche reaches a point where all alternatives are nearly equivalent and accessible to all customers. At that point, the only thing the businesses can compete on is price, and eventually, that causes all of them to work at the minimum operational profit and they all have more or less equivalent market share.
We don’t have a state of perfect competition in any product yet, but many have reached close. The best example is Cola. They have to price their products close to each other because any major price gap means customers will just choose one over the other.

All the other products are driven out of the market because they are inaccessible, just because it’s a second easier to reach the market leader.
So, all factors being equal, reach is the factor that decides whether your business will make money or not.
