Social media is on a decline, except this…

The 2010s till now have been a story dominated by social media when it comes to the Internet. It’s been all about the social web.

Facebook and Twitter amassed billions of users and created business ecosystems that are bigger than most countries' economies. Yes, according to a fair estimate, Facebook alone is generating $300 billion in sales for businesses that are on the platform.

Plus, it’s making public opinion, and is the deciding factor when it comes to the success of any brand online.

But, it’s piping down.

This is the first year since the launch of Facebook when the actual number of users actually reduced instead of increasing. The screen time spent on these platforms went down too. It’s not much right now, but it’s the beginning of a trend.

Social fatigue has set in. For you, that means you can expect to drive less customers to your business than before.

The only platform that is bucking this trend is TikTok.

They haven’t stopped growing. It’s becoming more popular and people are spending more time on it than before.

Meta Reels & YouTube Shorts barely made a dent in Tiktok’s growth, so it’s not blazing like before, but the trend is powerfully skewed towards Tiktok. It’s going to emerge as the dominant platform unless something crazy happens.

So, here’s my question to you. What are you doing about Tiktok?

The young people are there, and increasingly the spenders are getting there too. Unless you and your products are there your social strategy will not be relevant by the end of the decade.

It’s time to start producing short videos.

Cheers!
