We’ve always been taught competition. You went to school, they made grades and ranks, a competition; sports are all competitive, and you are taught to compete for college and jobs.
Then you carry that mindset over to business and things start to go even worse.
In business, collaboration beats the competition.
You can’t beat your competition unless you learn to collaborate well.
That’s the skill they should have taught us in schools. How to make friends, connect with everyone we know and find common ground.
In life, that’s how you build success.
I was listening to a successful billionaire sometime ago and he said that he would be glad to pay for an ivy league education for his kids. Not because they will learn something, but because they will create connections with people who are going to be at the top in their fields.
What an extremely smart attitude to have.
