The real AI revolution is happening on your phone
Last week I was talking to a couple of fellow entrepreneurs about how much smarter AI is getting, and even though we seem to be going through a slow period in apparent LLM (Large Language Model) innovation, there have been really incredible advancements in speed… and they count for a lot.
Google recently announced that they were releasing the Pixel 9 with an AI processor on the phone. The AI would work locally.
There are similar products from Samsung, and the next release of the iPhone is going to be all about the on-board chip.
This is the first release. Think of this as the first release of the iPhone, when it first became smart. Now it’s AI-Smart, but it’s only the first release.
In the coming months and years, it’s going to get a lot smarter and as new applications emerge to interface with the onboard AI, you’ll see a transformed world.
I am talking about the near-human-like performance of an AI on your phone.
So the question is, how would you handle that? What kind of relationship do you have with a device like that?
My fellow entrepreneurs and I got on to talking about the Turing test. Have you heard of it? This was devised by a British Cryptographer named Turing. He proposed that if a computer was smart enough to fool another human being into believing that it was a human talking at the other end, then it can be considered intelligent.
Well, the Turing Test is quite a joke now. AI is already beyond that point.
It can talk as well or even better than any human being and it’s not hard for it to fool another human being into believing that it’s human.
… So the next question is.
How does your business change with high-quality AI on the phone? Especially, if it’s created and sponsored by a corporation that has its own best interests at heart.
