This is The Biggest threat to ChatGPT

Yesterday I got two very significant updates about LLMs (Large Language Models); you know, what ChatGPT is.
1. Claude is going to open its model for payment.
2. Perplexity launched Meta’s Coding LLM to the public within two days of its public availability.
Claude is argued to be the best quality text generative AI model, even better than GPT-4. They’ve kept things closed while they were scaling up and testing, but they are finally ready for public release and this is a huge competitor for ChatGPT.
At the other end, there is perplexity.ai which has done a great job of packing LLAMA (open source) models and making them available to users.
I used perplexity.ai today and I was impressed.
It’s faster than GPT3.5 and my answers were actually better.
The biggest thing is, that perplexity AI is moving fast. They already put in Code LLAMA within 48 hours of release, so their app is now better than ChatGPT for coding.
Wow!
At one end the competition is from other closed-source players, and at the other, they’ve got open-source gunning for them.
But I suspect ChatGPT will not be the only casualty. Perplexity AI also aggregates information from search and gives you pretty good search results.
There has never been such a multi-faceted attack on the established business models of the tech world before.
Pretty interesting times.
