YouTube caves in, now you can monetize ‘Controversial Topics’
YouTube caves in, now you can monetize ‘Controversial Topics’
Looks like the new pressure from X is working. YouTube is caving in!
When X first came in, Elon Musk announced to great applause that he would make the first truly ‘open and free’ platform. A platform where people’s voices will not be stifled and they will be able to express their real opinion.
I am not sure if that has really happened on the platform because we still hear about all the people who have their reach or accounts killed, but it has put a lot of pressure on Meta and Google.
YouTube in particular, because it has been the favorite haunt of controversial creators. People like Tucker Carlson, Russell Brand and many others have found homes on other platforms because YouTube couldn’t support their content.
That’s about to change.

Today, YouTube announced that they have changed their policy and will now allow monetization of ‘Controversial topics’. At this time they include Sexual & Domestic Abuse, Abortion and Eating disorders.
Wow! That’s a big change and if this experiment succeeds then you can expect YouTube to open up more.
Very quickly, where’s what it means.
If you make content on any of the topics above (not doing them, but on those topics), then YouTube will allow you to.
1.Get monetized through the YouTube Partnership Program.
2.Go live and get Supers
3.Sell merchandise on YouTube
4.Get paid for memberships on YouTube
This opens up a completely new niche on YouTube for monetization. A niche that has not been explored earlier by professional creators because there was no money in it.
So if you feel you have a voice, and you want to raise it. Now you can get paid for it.
Talk about any of the topics above, influence people, build your audience and get paid. YouTube isn’t going to bar you any longer.
What kind of videos will work
>Podcasts, talks with people who have an opinion
>Faceless videos, narratives about these topics
>News, incident reviews, narrations
>Safety and precaution videos
>Survivor and personal accounts
One important thing I’d like to mention. This is a policy change that was influenced by public opinion and competition. If opinion goes against it, it may change again.
Only those who build content carefully will survive. This is indeed a very tricky niche.
Got an opinion to share about this change? Let me know!
Whether you decide to get into controversy or not, here’s something that’s not controversial.
