YouTube changed the game… Here are the new rules
YouTube changed the game… Here are the new rules
I love YouTube. It’s one of my most powerful lead sources and I built up a fabulous channel there that’s a labor of love. Check it out -> https://youtube.com/@teknikforce
If you are a marketer, you can’t go wrong if you select YouTube for your business. Whether you do organic content or run ads, I think YouTube gives you the best returns every time.
But it’s important to know the rules and adapt yourself according to them. The guys over at YouTube are always watching and always changing things.
Here’s what they did
> YouTube Shorts won’t have clickable links
> Comments and descriptions on shorts won’t have clickable links
> The links About section are going
> You’ll be able to put links on the main page
> You will be able to link shorts to shorts
They want to stop people from spamming (It can get really ugly in shorts) and at the same time let legitimate creators promote themselves better. So if you have a landing page or a newsletter, it’s time to put it on your YouTube profile.
For the links in comments and descriptions, I think this is a time to come. No website wants to send their visitors to another website and YouTube is a market leader with a lot of power. It can afford to dictate the terms.
It’s happening on shorts today but I won’t be surprised if it goes to long-form videos very soon. Links are gone in comments and descriptions (they won’t be clickable). How will this affect you?
As marketers, we always need to be ready to adapt. Things change often and nobody waits around to check if it’s okay with you.
Here’s my rule. I always look at the leading guys in the business. Check out what they are doing. How are they doing their call to action, their content, and their traffic?
The clues to success are public. All of the marketing is public. It’s in full view of everyone.
Are you looking out for it?
I will be here sending you the latest update.
