If you don’t know anything else in business, know Selling
If you don’t know anything else in business, know Selling
I began programming when I was 15 and I made a lot of good software and built a comfortable life. But the first time I brought home some numbers that were worth talking about was when I added a skill that had been missing earlier.
- Selling
My first few lessons at selling were very expensive. I gave away 70% of my profits. Yep, that’s what my marketing partners took to help me sell my product.
I paid a lot for them, but they were well learned. I observed how they did business, the ideas they used, how they wrote copy, recruited a sales network and I learnt from everything they did.
After partnering a few more times I picked up enough to do the work myself, and that unlocked the true cycle of growth and profitability in my business.
Selling is the most important skill an entrepreneur can have, and no matter whether you fancy yourself as a producer or a creator, if you want to be in business, your most important job is to sell.
I learnt a lot of sales and marketing by reading books, blogs, articles and above all, by observing other marketers.
I might have said that earlier, but even at the risk of repeating – Marketing is an open game. All the tricks and systems that your competitor has built are available for you to learn from. All you need to do is observe carefully.
And that’s what I did. The best lessons I got were from the practitioners.
Here’s a system I follow to build my sales pitches. Just a simple 5-step process that anyone can duplicate and maximize sales for their business.
1. Make a profile for your customer
This is simple, advocated by everyone but ignored by almost every marketer I asked. Building your ideal customer profile is important because if you don’t know who he is, you can’t come at him with what will truly make him act.
2. What’s his REAL need!
People don’t buy a product for what it does. They buy it for how it will change their life. Don’t sell a product, sell the change. You built your ideal customer profile, right?
You know what he really wants. Can your product help him get that? Pitch that, not what your product can do.
3. Pre-empt objections
The biggest enemy of a seller are objections.
Reasonable or unreasonable questions or doubts that might make the buyer cancel or delay the purchase decisions. You want the buyer to make the purchase decision right then. The profile will come in handy again. Make a list of all the objections your customer could have and pre-empt them. Handle them in your sales pitch or copy
4. Make the sale NOW!
New sellers have a big problem. They can’t close! They can’t ask for the order!
It’s a killer. If you don’t make the sale now there might not be another chance. Once you’ve made your pitch, close. Ask for the order.
On a sales call you do that one-to-one but on your sales page too, the approach has to be the same. Put buy buttons clearly and right after your best arguments. At any point the prospect decides to buy, they must have a clear buy button that they can use.
These are some really simple techniques but they are the foundation of selling online. You can always add layers and even more techniques but this is all you need to know to be profitable.
What do you think of this? Are you using these techniques when you design your pitch?
Let me know.
If you want me to write about something specific, let me know and I will put it on my list.

Autowebinars are awesome. You can create them once and then have them run over and over to your audience. Working for you even when you take that break.
What you do in an autowebinar is use your webinar recording as a webinar playback. Webinarloop can make it seem just like the webinar is live.
It’s uncanny.
But that’s not all. Webinarloop has many amazing features never seen in any other webinar software
>Sidebar ads in webinars (show your graphics)
>Call to action buttons (Have them buy from within the webinar)
>Quizzes
>Info pops
>Question boxes
These are things that make your webinar awesome and Webinarloop has them all.
You’ve got to check it out.
