My Twitter feed is filled with this and it doesn’t work

Marketing is trend-based. Smart sellers look for new ways to sell, find an innovative system and then scale it all the way that they can. Then others catch on, copy the trend and milk it to death. 

At a certain point, the returns diminish to the point where it’s no longer useful.

But this trend just doesn’t seem to die off and I don’t think it’s ever going to because it appeals to people at the rawest emotional level.

It’s all the flex you see on Social Media.

“I made $100K with a simple method that requires no ads and no marketing. I am going to share it with 100 select people. If you want it, type ‘Ecom’ in the comments to get access.”

“$10K in sales in 2 days with this winning product. Type ‘Winner’ and I will send it to you.”

I was looking for information, the latest news and developments but nearly all of the content I saw was that. 

Apparently, flexing sells even after all these years. People see the flex and they can’t help but want. What if this was their lucky break? This was the product that they were waiting for or the system that would work for them.

Here’s something you already know inside – It doesn’t.

I have no doubt that some of the people who put up all these screenshots are really doing it the way they describe, but that has to be a very small minority. Most of them are either feeding you a lie or not giving you the whole picture.

Entrepreneurs who find a system or product that works, stay very quiet.

They don’t have the time, energy, or desire to post all day on Twitter how great their sales are, and they’ll share the secrets for a retweet unless that is their entire business model – the retweet.

They are in it because they can find buyers and students who will pay them, and often that’s where they really make money.

That’s not where your learning should come from.

If you really want to learn the way a business really works, find real practitioners. 

• Use Google search, not Twitter. 
• Find seminars, conferences. 
• Look in forums. 
• On social media look for people who are discussing the logistics of the business, not flexing.
• Try to join a trade group.

Find just a handful of real practitioners and track them. How they market, and how they conduct their business. It will take digging but since every business is now public, you can find a lot of useful information.

That’s how you can build a real business. The flex is not helpful.

When I first started in Internet marketing I was impressed by the flex (only for a week). Then I flexed a bit on my own (only for a week). It was tiring.
